On Friday 17th February 2012, Nottingham’s finest purveyors of danceable art-rock SOUVARIS will be playing their last ever show after 11 years of touring, recording and fusing emotion with all-out groove.
Formed in a Hertfordshire barn in the latter half of 2001, Souvaris have gone on to create epic washes of blissed-out noise, scathing, angular rifferamas and infectious, synth-pop grooves. Always on the same record and often in the same song, but all the while maintaining a sense of fun and playfulness which is often all too absent in many artists within the so-called “post-rock” genre.
Six official releases – culminating with the 2011 release “SOUVARIS SOUVARIS” on Nottingham’s very own GRINGO RECORDS – and countless self-releases, the band have finally decided to draw a line under a career which has taken the band themselves on numerous UK and European tours and their music across the globe.
This final show at Nottingham Contemporary shall not only represent a fond farewell to a band who have made music that is very much their own, but also as a massive thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged Souvaris for well over a decade.
They would be honoured if you would join them for one last dance, one last time.
