As part of Nottingham Independent Print and Publishing Fair on 23rd September, we will be hosting Lino Print and Book-making Workshops with local artists.
Sophie (Vaulted Fantasties Lino Printing) and Tory (Tory About Town Studio) will be offering the chance to learn the basics of lino printing, along with the opportunity to purchase original art prints and cards.
Linocut is similar to woodcut printing – a design is carved away with sharp tools, then the print block is inked then printed onto paper or card, and used to create multiple imprints.
Introduction to Lino workshop (2 ½ hours) – £25 (Please bring cash on the day)
In this session, participants will have the chance to get to grips with a set of lino tools to produce experimental cuts, then design an image which they will carve into a piece of vinyl lino and create a test print. They will then print their own greetings cards and art print using a traditional Japanese hand-printing tool called a baren.
So that the ink will dry more quickly we will use ink stamp pads, but Tory will also be demonstrating the use of a roller and oil-based ink.
Participants will be able to produce:
Five greetings cards
One print on A4 card
All materials will be provided.
Book-making workshops will be delivered by Paula McCann, details tbc.
